As one who writes both contemporary and historical romance, both sweet and sensual, I love the western spirit and all my books are set here. In fact, all my books take place in Texas. How great to look out at the horizon and not see buildings, but rolling prairie up to the mountains. I adore the West’s tall skies, open fields and woods near large cities, and the spirit that inhabits our people. Of course, I also like people East of the Mississippi. They include many relatives and good friends. Some of America’s most beautiful landscapes are there, too. In the three years we lived in central Florida, my Hero and I made many wonderful friends. Ah, but I confess my heart belongs under a tall western sky.

Y'all come back now, y'hear?
Greetings and Welcome to Sweethearts of the West blog.
Caroline said it all, thank goodness, because I could not have done so well. She approached me about this group venture, and I readily joined up. For a long time, I’ve wished for a group blog consisting of authors who loved the West and wrote about it, too.
Couple on horseback |
Somehow, I became her co-moderator, probably because I have that urge to take charge. I really shouldn’t do that, because in some cases—this one, for example—someone else just might know more than I! And Caroline and her sweet, gracious, patient husband have done a smashing job with the appearance and format of the site. She and I believe we are cousins, at least we pretend so, because we’re from the same area and we think and work alike. I could not have asked for a better partner.
I know you’ll be thrilled with our authors—I certainly am! Even though each of us writes in a different way and may prefer one category to another, we have one cohesive belief: we love to write about the west.
So, thank you for visiting. Leave a comment, be a Follower, anything…but most of all we hope you’ll return again and again to visit with the Sweethearts.

I'm excited to be a part of this blog. I write both contemporary and historical westerns set in Oregon. The most west you can get! LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to visiting here often.

I, too, am excited to be part of this fabulous blog. I write contemporaries set partially or fully in Texas. My family and I have lived all across the west; my husband, children, and grandchildren are 5th + generation Texans. This Yankee girl sometimes struggles to keep up.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to meeting our readers and developing friendships with you.
I'm also excited to be a member of this blog. Nothing says romance better than a cowboy and a Sunset out West. I write contemporary series romance for Harlequin American Romance. I've got a new series Rodeo Rebels...starting in 2011. The books are set in Texas and New Mexico.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to getting to know our readers!

LINDA--We'll welcome you with open arms! Thank you for visiting. Celia
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, sweethearts, on your new blog. The site looks wonderful, and the collection of authors is stunning.
ReplyDeleteI love this new blog, Celia and all, thanks for inviting me to visit. I'm one of those "east of the Mississippi" people mentioned but I admit I've become fascinated with those wide opne skies and lanky laconic cowboys. I wish you great success with this new project and I'll be back often. Linda
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Sweethearts, and thanks for inviting me to ride along!
ReplyDeleteI love both contemporary and historical and love all settings, but there is definitely something about a man who knows how to use a six shooter that calls to me, LOL.
Looking forward to being part of this wonderful group of bloggers!

Congrats on the new blog... it looks good.
ReplyDeleteWOW how impressive the Sweethearts blog has come together. I am so proud to have been included in the list of writers here. I live in the Sierra Mountains and love the history of the 1849 Gold Rush and plan to share a lot of information about this exciting time period and remarkable people who settled here.
ReplyDeleteKEENA, LINDA, AND TINA--thank you for your comments. We hope we can entertain you, and want you to return on Sunday, for our first blog.
ReplyDeleteGlad to be here and looking forward to being here often. susan L.

ReplyDeleteHi all you Western lovers,
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new blog and it is a spot I hope to visit often.
Everything looks great and I am wishing you much success in everything you do.
I'm thrilled to be a part of this blog. Having grown up in West Texas, lived in Oregon, Idaho and Arizona, I'm a child of the American West. I can' imagine living in any other part of the country. ..... One of the great things about being a Westerner is growing up knowing the history and stories of the West and its development, stories filled with true heroes and heroines, no matter the era. My books are contemporary stories, but the flavor of the West is ever present. Thanks again for inviting me to be a part of this blog.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, some of my favorite writers in one place! Waving in particular to 'Anna Jeffrey' from Books 'n' Authors in Weatherford :-)
ReplyDeleteHey, Sweethearts, I've never gotten to live in the West, though I've traveled through Western States, including Texas.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I lived vicariously through all those Westerns I watched and loved.
May great success be yours under the 'tall' skies. I'm looking forward to your posts.
Wow! Ya'll (I'm afraid to say "You guys") did a really nice job on this blog.
ReplyDeleteHey-let's go look for camels!
I'm tickled to join everyone here and to be part of the Sweethearts of the West blog. I write both historical and contemporary romance that takes place in the Southwest, mostly in Texas, since that's where I live. I love the high desert and the Rocky Mountains, where my dh and I have a home in the desert foothills. My Texas ancestors have left me enough inspiration for stories to fill many books.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to sharing the adventures with you!

Hi everyone,
ReplyDeleteBetter late than never. I have been on the "promo trail" for my last two releases--released within 10 days of one another. But I'm here! I'm so glad to be a part of this great blog. What a wonderful "kick off" blog you two did, Caroline and Celia! I was born and raised in Oklahoma, the heart of the west--(Celia now I just said that to mess with you and Caroline a little, cause I know you two are dyed-in-the-wool Texas gals!) LOL The west is a state of mind, not a state in the union, right? LOL Glad to be here--can't wait to get to know everyone better.

I'm thrilled to see another "western" themed blog! I write historical western romance, set just after (or before) the Civil War in Texas and (sometimes)Mexico. I'm so looking forward to visiting.
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
What a thrill to discover this new blog. I'm really looking forward to seeing all your posts.
