(By the way, next time plan on visiting some of the ghost towns near here!) Anyway, good point about some of the old time games being too dangerous for children. I can see both sides of the safety issues with some of the games & toys, but do regard some as over protection.Cheri Kay Cliftonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11577939399116814465noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1822452633282744192.post-36686896465859547022017-02-05T16:05:58.269-06:002017-02-05T16:05:58.269-06:00Great post! But I believe they've removed some of the cup and ball sets as well as the two balls held with a string (we called them clackers)that kids would get swinging in certain rhythms so they bounced against each other. Because children might knock their front teeth out with such playthings or use them as weapons. Really? It's a little like removing swing sets because children might fall off and hit their head. Um, we learned to hang on!! :-) It's no fun getting hurt.E. I also grew up in a home where there was no TV since Pop was determined not to have one because he felt it was take away from our resourcefulness. As much as I resented the lack of TV then, I'm grateful to him for that decision now.
I loved paper dolls, coloring books, and jacks. In my young years we spent much of our time reading books and playing games with our friends like hide-and-seek and kick-the-can. We spent so much time just playing pretend with our dolls, too.
What a fun article, Cheri! Sarah J. McNealhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17749991094677728042noreply@blogger.com
