I never knew about the meanings behind the gifts for the 12 Days of Christmas. That is just so cool! Too often after the 12 days of Christmas, one falls back into old habits--hurting people who cared, taking advantage of others for your own good, living a false and arrogant life--claiming rewards not earned, and wallowing in the mud--and punishing those who do not deserve it while reviling them.

The Lord leads me to justly forgive those who wronged me and I work very hard at it. The forgiveness is not for them, but for me. It matters not if they accept it, or even know of it. I can then walk forward knowing I followed my Lord's word.

Merry Christmas to you all. But I've never heard the true meaning of the Twelve Days of Christmas. And I thank you for that. Very enlightening, and I'll remember it. I'm familiar with the King's Cake, for the Women of the Church celebrate the 6th with a cake--I don't think we actually put a baby Jesus in there, though.
I'm a little annoyed by all the Christmas commercialism, but in a way I just overlook it. That's what some want to do, and who am I to correct them? I try to just stay inside my beliefs, do what I can, and worship in my way.
You're very thoughtful, and bless you for this wonderful post.
