And the name Crook, doesn't help either.
Thank you so much for dropping by and for that great information about Dr. William Crook from San Marcos. Sarah J. I'm certain he must have been conflicted between duty and conscience. I think he did his best on both counts. I really appreciate you coming to read my article and commenting.Sarah J. With a name like "Crook", I might wonder about his character, but perhaps he is related to a man named Crook who was from our town of San Marcos, but has since passed on. Dr. William Crook, president of San Marcos Academy, where I taught, but then joined the LBJ administration and went to Australia as an Ambassador for the US. Then he came back and worked for LBJ in Washington and helped designed the bills for education for the poor, etc. So, hey! They may be related. Thanks so much for this wonderful post about an admiral man...but why did the men of that time think that beard was good? Ugh. I've always thought Crook an admirable human being. It must have been hard for him to retain his humanity while leading various Army divisions during several brutal campaigns. I've read that the Apache respected and admired him, even though he was their enemy. I think that says a lot.

You did an excellent job of portraying a man who must have been very complex. :-)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05740371055384281988noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1822452633282744192.post-36647414980158409902015-09-18T13:41:36.508-05:002015-09-18T13:41:36.508-05:00So few authority figures kept their promises to Na...So few authority figures kept their promises to Native Americans.
